Annual Bushies vs Police – Cricket Match

The Harts Range Amateur Race Club Inc is more than just a horse race committee.

Through the year the club’s members’ get together for other activities:

 

Annual Cricket Match

Between the local Police and the local Pastoralists (held in May each year).

 

Christmas Party

Held in October/November for our membership and the residents of the wider Harts

Range district, held in various locations depending on weather- Police Station grounds,

the Race Course grounds or at a venue in Alice Springs. If held in Alice then we combine

it with a ‘thank you drinks evening’ for our sponsors.

 

Donations

The Harts Range Amateur Race Club has been lucky enough to be in the position to

give back to the community in a number of ways. 

  • We provide a canteen that has been utilised by the Isolated Children’s Parent’s

Association Alice Springs branch for many years now, as their major fundraiser. 

CLUB ACTIVITIES

*Made over $12,000 in donations in the last 14 years to:

  • Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association – Alice Springs Branch

  • Campus Life organisation – who help youth in need. Annually their group visit Harts Range and at times help us by collecting firewood for the races weekend. 

  • Angel Flight – charity that coordinates non-emergency flights to help country people trying to deal with the triple trouble of bad health, poor finances and daunting distance.

  • Alice Springs 4WD Club, Rotary Club of Stuart and Rotary Club of Mbantua who have helped on our gate in past years.

  • Special Souls Support Group – ‘Supporting families, carers and friends of children with special needs’.

  • Simone Montgomerie Family Trust (a jockey who died after a fall during racing at Darwin Cup Day 2013).

  • Royal Flying Doctor Service

  • Kids Helpline

  • Rob Cook Trust (for injured farmers)

  • Corey Mostran (local injured after motorbike accident)

  • Alice Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

  • Police Legacy (as part of the Webb/Darken Challenge Race)

  • Riding for Disabled – Alice Springs

 

Working Bees: 

We also have 2-3 working bees each year where members work on improving and maintaining the grounds for the Bush Sports Weekend event.

If you are interested in becoming a member to join in and help our organisation, please feel free to fill in the Membership Form (which you can download below), or contact our President or Secretary. Our members are made up of a wide variety of skilled people – from town and bush, so all interest is welcome. Membership to the Harts Range Amateur Race Club is open to all over 16 years of age.
