Following is useful information to help you plan your trip to the Harts Range Amateur Race Club weekend in August.

HARTS RANGE RACES WEEKEND 

  • 215km from Alice.

  • Picnic Public Holiday Weekend (first weekend of August). See About us Page for dates.

We would like to encourage patrons planning on attending to purchase pre-paid tickets online to assist gate staff with money handling. ​

Each attendee will need to present their ticket at the gate – either printed or on your phone, to receive your wristband.

  • ENTRY FEES: (Friday to Monday)

      • Weekend Pass $40.00.

      • EFTPOS/Cash from Centre Ag Services (old Landmark Building) 34 Stuart Highway – next to Mobile Teppa Hill.

    • Children under 16 are free.

  • Non-powered camp sites – showers and toilets provided.

  • Hot BBQ meals morning til late provided by Harts Range Race Club Committee volunteers – steak, sausage, bacon and egg sandwiches, hot chips, drinks.

  • Ice for sale.

  • No fuel, cigarettes or matches sold – see Atitjere Store details (below). 

  • LIMITED MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE and No public phone available – see Atitjere Store details (below).

  • LIMITED EFTPOS. See Atitjere Store details (below).

  • Health Clinic at Atitjere Community – Turn off the Plenty Highway into the Atitjere Community. St John’s will also be in attendance at the Racecourse all weekend for emergencies only.

  • Police at Plenty Highway, 1km east of the Racecourse turnoff, and/or on duty at the racecourse.

  • No alcohol sold at racecourse or to be taken into the Atitjere Community area.

  • BYO from Alice Springs.

  • We prefer no dogs; however, they must be tied up at all times if you do bring them.

  • NO FIREWORKS – PENALITIES APPLY.

  •  If you or a family member are feeling unwell or recently arrived from interstate, please stay home.

 

Don't Forget to Bring

  • Hat (wide brimmed preferred).

  • Torch.

  • Swag.

  • Cooking equipment and tucker.

  • Alcohol (optional) and Esky.

  • Spare cash.

  • Formal/Themed Wear for the Ball on Saturday Night – including ties for the men. Theme changes annually – check About us Page for details. 

  • Suitable shoes and clothing to partake in Sports Events.

  • Camera.

  • Collect firewood on the way.

  • Your best demeanour and lots of friends!

 

 

SERVICES IN THE EAST MACDONNELL – AND BEYOND

  • Drivers and Campers are advised to leave gates as you find them, keep to main roads and the designated camping grounds.

  • Permits are required to enter Indigenous and Pastoral Lands.

  • All fossicking requires a permit unless participating as part of a tour with The Gemtree. Fossicking permits are available from the NT Department of Mines and Energy.

 

Atitjere Store

  • Open Monday to Friday 9:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm only. Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays – however over the Picnic Races Weekend the store will be open SATURDAY 9:00am to 1:00pm, SUNDAY 9:00am to 12:00pm, MONDAY (Public Holiday) 9:00am to 12:00pm.

The Gemtree Caravan Park

Jervois Station

  • Open Monday to Saturday 8:00am to 6:00pm. CLOSED SUNDAYS.

  • Fuel, drinks and snacks (no hot meals).

  • EFTPOS available.

 

Aileron Roadhouse

  • 135km from Alice.

  • Open daily 6:00am to 10:00pm.

  • Outback hospitality, Aboriginal art gallery, accommodation, camping, caravan grounds and air-con motel rooms, pool, BBQ picnic area, fuel, Pub Meals, selection of groceries. EFTPOS.

Arltunga Historical Reserve and National Park

  • 110km from Alice.

  • Visitor Centre Open daily 8:00am to 5:00pm – gives an introduction to the Reserve and mining era, through cultural and historical displays. Guided bush walks are also available. Emergency phone 24 hours.

  • Picnic and barbecue facilities with shade shelters and toilets are located at the Visitor Centre. 

  • Pets and Camping is not permitted on the Reserve, however they are available at the nearby Arltunga Eco Retreat.
